A wonderful atmospheric little shrine of a museum. I loved it and was touched by it. Not to be missed.

Went to the monument and the museum, both of which were very interesting. The farmer or perhaps his son, who host the museum and whose road leads to the monument and museum, seem to have some sort of vendetta about people using their road even though the museum is advertised and directed from the bottom of the road. This is shame as the farmer's wife was very helpful, in opening the museum and discussing the history of the monument and the Covenanters.

Remembering christian heroes. They stood firm in the face of death.

I visited the museum today today as a part of tracing my family genealogy. The monument and museum are s little way out but for me well worth the trip. The museum has been upgraded recently and has a good history of John Howie who wrote the Scottish Worthies, it shares the histories of the Covenanters and has displays from the time including books, weapons, family tree that still needs valid contributions and articles from the farms history too. It is free to go inside with the option to leave a donation and there are a few Souvenirs to buy. If the door isnt open then ring the opposite door and someone will bring a key.Reading the visitors book is just as valuable if you are searching for family as lots of people have left contact details for genealogy searching and support. There is a toilet inside and it is all wheelchair accessible. The monument is 200 metres away and the baron surroundings give you s clue to the harshness of the surroundings that people really did have to survive in to live.

Isolated and off the beaten track this is well worth a visit if you appreciate the freedoms we have today compared to what life was like back then
