Honestly rude staff that hold the reception!!! They never helpful or anything. The doctors are good when you finaly get an apointment to see them
This practice really needs to change their appointment booking system. Almost impossible to get an appointment there if you work and don't want to wait 2-3 weeks. I phoned for an appointment at 8:30 and got through quickly only to be told I couldn't get an appointment later in the day because they do them morning first! When I told the receptionist that I work 9-5 she said that if it's urgent you should just leave your work anyway!! Do they live in the real world?! Who can just leave their work at any time for an appointment and what's the problem with giving people appointments later in the day if they can't make it earlier? Also, if it's really urgent, I'd be at A&E and how do they know what's urgent and what's not? Surely there should be a triage system in operation like other doctor's surgeries do where the doctor phones back to decide if it's urgent etc. Some people might not know that their symptoms require urgent attention so then have to wait for 2-3 weeks. At least allow a bit of flexibility for those who work! I'm lucky that I work nearby but have no idea how anyone that works in a different town can ever get an appointment.
I've had to recently make an appointment for the first time in about 6 years as I'm a young and healthy individual. After a bad accident at work which I broke bones in my face I seeked advice from a doctor at this surgery about strong migraines and heavy nose bleeds which I was only seeking advice as I try to avoid pain relief and medication where necessary. I was told that a hit to the head would cause a head ache and I was to basically get on with it. I also brought along a very concerned wife so she could be present during the assesment she was disgusted with the doctors attitude(she's never had a bad experience). Feeling belittled and shunned I've now had to move surgerys and I feel it's necessary for my own wellbeing. This is not the first time i have been made to feel embarrassed infront of this doctor which is why I've had to struggle before asking them for help. **PLEASE AVOID AS THERES BETTER HELP OUT THERE**
Phoned this morning at 8.32am (2 mins after phone lines open) and an automated voice told me I was 16th in the queue. It took 18 mins to actually get through and thanfully did result in an appointment. I am needing this appointment for medication and had booked one with the nurse 3 weeks ago as the receptionist advised me that is who would help me with my issue. There was a 2 week wait between booking and the actual appointment. Ended up that the nurse was not the person to help me, I needed to see a doctor. Then told I could not see a doctor for 3 weeks. This is because lots of appointments are prioritised for their main booking system: on the day appointmemts. I have raised the issue about this way of booking being highly unfair to those who have a Monday to Friday full time job. I have a job where I cant just nip away to the doctors the same day as I phone up for an appointment. The only reason I could have seen a doctor today was because it's a holiday Friday for my work. Absolutely ludicrous system. Also, never seen on time and last week the receptionist sat and did nothing whilst a woman was shouting on her mobile and her son went through the ringtones on his. All this whilst sat directly opposite a 'do not use mobile phones' sign.
Phoned for appointment when it opened and placed 6th in queue. Waited 10mins for answer to be told they give out same day appointment in order of time (needed aft 4pm as I wouldn't 't be in Kilmarnock earlier as travelling home which I explained). They told me to phone around 10.30am so I waited till 9.10am and called to be told that there were no appointments left. Poor quality service in my opinion. Glad I don't have to go to the doctors often. Last time I was there a girl was going off at the receptionist screaming about not having her prescription for her medication and the doctor actually took her in and saw her. So much for not tolerating violence, it certainly paid off in her case. Doctors are ok though if you can get past the receptionists.
